Matt is a consultant in clinical engineering, focusing on performance improvement, and forensic engineering, providing incident investigation, litigation support, and expert witness services. He is a Certified Clinical Engineer, Certified Healthcare Facility Manager, Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management, and Certified Professional in Patient Safety.
He is a founder, past president, and fellow of ACCE. He is also the author of many publications, including the AEM Program Guide: Alternative PM for Patient Safety. Prior to starting Baretich Engineering in 1997, Matt was director of Engineering Services for the University of Colorado Hospital and director of Clinical Engineering for the Children’s Hospital in Norfolk, Virginia

Frank is a Professor and Clinical Engineering Program Director in the Biomedical Engineering Graduate Program at the University of Connecticut. He is nationally and internationally recognized in the field of clinical engineering with over 45 years of clinical engineering and biomedical equipment service management experience. He has directed in-house programs at two large metropolitan teaching hospitals and managed two successful regional independent medical equipment service organizations.
Professor Painter has been President of the ACCE, Chairman of the US Board of Examiners for Clinical Engineering Certification and Chairman of the Healthcare Technology Certification Commission. In 2016 he won the ACCE Lifetime Achievement Award, for exceptional and sustained contributions to the clinical engineering profession. In 2011 he won the AAMI Clinical Engineering Achievement Award.
